CISRAP (Centro Italiano Studi e Ricerca Archeologiche Precolombiane) is an Italian cultural association whose headquarters are in the city of Brescia. CISRAP promotes the research and divulgation of the cultures and civilizations of the Americas, through the Italian Archaeological Mission with its various scientific projects. In Peru, it has its headquarters in the city of Nasca: CEAP (Centro de Estudios Arqueológicos Precolombinos), which is an NGDO and together with CISRAP are custodians of the Movable Cultural Assets (BCM) recovered during the excavations of the Nasca Project, the Ica Region, the same ones that are exhibited in the Antonini Museum. The museum also houses other BCMs that were donated and are part of the CEAP Collection, all of them duly registered with the Ministry of Culture.
The director of CISRAP-CEAP and the Antonini Museum is Dr. Giuseppe Orefici.
The Antonini Museum offers the public the possibility of immersing themselves in the wonders that the Nasca Culture offers, since it houses a large quantity and diversity of Nasca archaeological materials.
The Antonini Museum seeks to be a platform for visitor interaction with an important part of our history, through the divulgation and research of the works carried out by the Italian Archaeological Mission.
CISRAP and CEAP work in the field of divulgation of the most important research carried out in the field of pre-columbian americanism. From the operational point of view, for over 40 years they have sponsored the “Nasca Project”, which has been operating in the territory of the Ica region since 1982, specifically in the recovery and enhancement of the Cahuachi Ceremonial Center. The excavation campaigns are carried out annually, in a variable period between three and nine months. The Italian Archaeological Mission, directed by Dr. Giuseppe Orefici, acts within the framework of an Agreement with the Ministry of Culture of Peru and with their respective permits.
Specialists from national and foreign organizations or universities, especially from Italy and other European countries, participate in the archaeological missions. The research in the Nasca area are carried out through systematic excavations based on a long-term project, which proposes the final value of the monuments for a consequent development of the area also in the tourism field. The operational methodology considers the consolidation of plastering, structural reinforcements, protection of headwaters and desalination, as well as a conservation and protection plan for the structures.
CISRAP-CEAP has been carrying out multidisciplinary projects for over 46 years in various places in Latin America, including:
The Italian Archaeological Mission is recognized by the Italian state (Ministero degli affari esteri e della cooperazione internazionale) and by the Peruvian state (Ministry of Culture), and is part of the cultural agreement between both countries.
